Our history
In 1991 a group of telecommunications pioneers founded a private telecommunications company in the USA, which quickly expanded to Australia and Europe. In 1999, N-Tel Com LLC started operations in Zurich to take advantage of the recently deregulated Swiss market. The company initially provided voice services to SMEs who were able to freely choose their service provider for the first time.
The young company turned profitable just two years after the founding. The company has been consistently profitable ever since.
The company was acquired by The Carphone Warehouse Group, then the largest independent mobile communications retailer in Europe (including then over 60 retail Shops in Switzerland). The products were soon also sold in the Swiss retail stores under the brand TalkTalk.
In 2006 the company branched out beyond fixed-line and became a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). Calls between TalkTalk fixed and mobile networks were free of charge which was quite an innovation.
The then British parent company divested itself of the Swiss retail stores and the TalkTalk brand became the company name as well.
In 2012, TalkTalk was one of the first Swiss companies to launch ULL: Unbundled Local Loop. This combination offer included the connection fee, landline and mobile network and the Internet connection. This was the beginning of the migration of fixed-line customers to newer technologies.
The mobilezone group acquired TalkTalk Telecom LLC, merged it with an existing fixed-line business mobilezone com Ltd. and renamed the company TalkTalk Ltd. The fixed and mobile products of TalkTalk were soon also sold in all mobilezone shops in Switzerland.
TalkTalk moved from the city of Zug to Rotkreuz as the parent company mobilezone moved from the Zurich area to Rotkreuz at the same time.
TalkTalk celebrates 20 years in Switzerland with new attractive offers including data roaming at Swiss rates.
TalkTalk launches 5G and eSIM and provides its customers with the latest mobile generation.
TalkTalk has completely revamped its customer portal, myTalkTalk, with a fresh design, improved overview, and new features for greater transparency and control when managing subscriptions and data.

Verified climate targets
The mobilezone Group's climate targets have been officially confirmed by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This ensures that our contribution to reducing emissions is in line with the 1.5°C target of the Paris Agreement.
What we have committed to:

– 90% emissions by 2045
– Net zero emissions by 2045 at the latest
These targets apply across our entire value chain – from direct operations to upstream and downstream emissions.

Commitment to SDGs
In 2015, the UN adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of its 2030 Agenda – a global blueprint for sustainable development in society, the economy, and the environment.
mobilezone is committed to these goals and focuses on the following four SDGs:
